about red flag warning coming up at 6:15 a.m.. >> we are not tracking any hot spot for your ride or around the bay area. there have been no major incidents reported to. you can see the backups are in both the left and the right side. the metering lights have not yet been activated but they will be likely in the next 10 minutes or so. the only real slowdown is on interstate 580. >> breaking news out of the south bay. san jose police are investigating a shooting outside a senior assisted living center in south san jose. kron four's will tran is live at the scene with what we know. >> this shooting took place, the shots were fired by a security guard. he actually lives here or was it coming

to visit. he noticed that four suspects were trying to break into vehicles. he fired two shots and hit one of the suspects. they fled, and here is exclusive video. they were here in a stolen vehicle. the car was located and you can see it being put on a flatbed. the police officers when they arrived, notice that the suspect was about a block away from the stolen the vehicle. they stated that he was fond on the side of the road of bleeding. and they're interviewing him at the hospital and at the very least he will be charged with breaking and entering. the security guard is allowed to carry a firearm. they stated that this is a little unusual, but it depends on the company they

are allowed to carry guns. the security guard is down at the san jose police department. if they find out that the shooting was on wrongful, he may be charged. >> developing story out of east palo alto this morning. police are investigating a fatal shooting. the 25-hundred block of emmett way. a 19-year-old male was found slumped over in a car. that teen was taken to the hospital where he died overnight. >> 24 students have been arrested after a sit-in at san francisco city hall. this is video from the scene at city hall. dozens of san francisco city college students gathered to protest the decision to revoke their school's accreditation. the students were demanding to meet with mayor ed lee face to face. they want him to take a

public stand in support of city college. this comes after the department of education issued a letter finding fault with the accrediting process for city college. mayor ed lee's office released a statement in response to the protests. it saying he "is committed to keeping city college open, accredited, and available to the thousands of san franciscans who rely on it. the mayor has made this a priority and he supports the college's appeal underway and supports the work of the state chancellor and the special trustee who are working to reform and rescue city college." this just into kron4. a 6.1 earthquake just shook mexico's capital. there is no immediate word of damage or casualties and they have not yet issued a calculation of the power or epicenter.

mexico city is abominable even to distant earthquakes because much of it sits atop the monday sediments of drained lake beds. we will continue to monitor this as more information comes in. >> the bay bridge will be closed exactly a week from today as final preparations are underway to open the new span. the bridge will be closed to traffic starting wednesday night, august 28th. during that time, cal-trans will need to connect the new span to both yerba buena island. and the toll plaza. crews will then need to grind and pave the lanes. cal-trans will also be demolishing a portion of the old bridge, in order to make way for a temporary connector ramp. which will allow access to the pedestrian walkway on the new span. the bridge is expected to reopen on that tuesday morning after labor day. >> a destructive wildfire on the outskirts of yosemite national park is threatening some 25-hundred structures and has burned 96-hundred acres.

some 200 seniors were forced to evacuate yesterday from camp mather , which is owned and operated by the city of san francisco. the fire started saturday and has destroyed two houses and five outbuildings. state route 120 is shut down in both directions, blocking traffic in and out of yosemite on its west side, but the park remains open. >> a smoke grenade from a military training exercise started a 170-acre brush fire in dublin. this is video of the fire from our helicopter partnership with a-b-c- seven. the grenade was being used for training of reserves at camp parks. the brush fire started yesterday afternoon around 1:30 and was contained three hours later. no homes or buildings were damaged. >> we're just an hour away now when a military judge plans to announce this morning what sentence she will hand down against army private bradley manning. manning faces up to 90 years behind bars for the largest leak of classified information about the wars in iraq and afghanistan. the judge reconvened the

>> new this morning. dozens of people have been killed in a poisonous gas attack near the syrian capital of damascus. two syrian pro-opposition groups say activists are reporting that regime forces fired rockets with poisonous gas heads. we will bring you more information on the attack as it becomes available. >> japan's nuclear watchdog says it's taking the leaking of radioactive water at the crippled fukushima nuclear power plant seriously. it may reclassify the event as a "serious incident"

charged in a georgia elementary school shooting. fortunately no one was injured. dekalb county police say the suspect, identified as michael brandon hill, held one or two staff members in the front office captive. as officers swarmed the campus outside, hill shot at them at least half a dozen times with an assault rifle and they returned fire. hill then surrendered and faces several charges. an elementary school bookkeeper says she worked to convince hill to put down his weapons. antoinette tuff said that hill told her he was sorry, but that he was willing to die. >> two teenage boys have been charged with first degree murder in the random killing of an australian college baseball player. a third boy has been charged as an accessory. police say the three teens in oklahoma decided to kill somebody because they were bored.

15-year-old james edwards, junior, and 16-year-old chancey luna now face first-degree murder charges. michael jones is being charged as an accessory after the fact. their target was 23-year-old christopher lane from australia. he was on scholarship to play baseball at east central university. family and friends describe lane as the kind of man you want your sons to grow up to be. >> this was just senseless. >> nine-thousand miles away in melbourne, the family of christopher lane say they are trying to deal with this tragedy the best they can. >> mayor evan low, the openly gay mayor of campbell. has launched a nationwide campaign, urging the f-d-a to end a policy that prohibits gay men from donating blood.

mayor low's petition is posted on change-dot-org. he has already collected more than 17-thousand signatures. last month, mayor low held a blood drive in campbell. and was turned away as a donor, because of his sexual orientation. current f-d-a policy on blood donations. prevents all gay men from donating >> the democratic national committee plans to vote on a resolution this week urging san diego mayor bob filner to resign. the embattled mayor has been accused of sexually harassing more than a dozen women. the resolution will urge filner to resign immediately and say that the democratic party condemns anyone who creates a hostile work place or sexually harasses women or men. it's expected to be voted on friday at the d-n-c's summer meeting in phoenix. >> watching wall street this morning. futures trading appears headed for a lower opening today. but better results from best and other retailers helped the stock market close mostly higher yesterday. here's a look at the final

>> the first incident has been reported on the bay bridge. caltran tow truck drivers are in route. it has started to back up the ride. you can see that the metering lights, the easiest way to tell is 880 approach. the drive time is now over 18 minutes. the san mateo bridge is a different story. it is still light and easy. the lanes are able to manage the traffic. there is a delay on the approach of the drive time is still between the 11 and 13 minutes. the golden gate bridge is a good commute for both north and south bound. >> less of that the drive times. 18 minutes from hercules to berkeley. there was congestion for the east shore freeway. the south bay
